One person dead in fatal accident on Indy’s south side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 5, 2016) — Metro police are investigating a fatal crash that left one man dead on the south side of Indianapolis.

The crash happened just after 3 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Shelby Street and Standish Avenue.

Witnesses told investigators a man in a minivan was driving north on Shelby Street when he swerved into the opposite lane and hit a semi-truck.

Police aren’t sure what caused the driver to swerve. The man driving the minivan was killed. His identity has not been released.

Police say the driver of the semi-truck is okay.
