Two men, 19, arrested in connection with detonated pipe bomb near Clinton Central High School

UPDATE: Reece Mennen pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness and was sentenced to 2 years in the Department of Correction with 1 year on community corrections home detention and 1 year suspended. He’ll also spend a year on probation.

FRANKFORT, Ind. (Mar. 4, 2016)– Two 19-year-old men were arrested Friday in connection with a pipe bomb detonated near Clinton Central High School.

Police said the bomb was detonated and discovered on March 1. There were no injuries and police said no students or staff were ever in danger.

No other devices were located.

The pipe bomb was detonated along the north side of the school’s football field.

Nathan Robertson, 19, and Reece Mennen, 19, were arrested in connection with the case. Police found they had purchased bomb-making materials on the Sunday before the incident.

Robertson is charged with manufacturing a destructive device, possession of a destructive device, transporting a destructive device, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and criminal mischief.

Mennen faces charges of manufacturing a destructive device and possession of a destructive device.

Both men are each being held at the Clinton County Jail on $1,200 bond.
