IMPD arrests driver accused of striking child, leaving scene
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 25, 2016) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police arrested a woman accused of hitting an 8-year-old child in her SUV and then leaving the scene.
It happened around 9 a.m. at Michigan and Belmont. Police said the Chevy TrailBlazer hit the boy and then drove off; the boy was crossing the street to get to his mother’s car so he could go to school.
Nancy Romero Gonzalez, 33, surrendered at Southwest District Thursday afternoon. IMPD said preliminary charges include failure to stop at a personal injury accident and operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license.
Police said the boy complained of leg pain but wasn’t seriously hurt. His mother took him to an area hospital as a precaution.
