LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ind. (February 24, 2016) – A Paoli woman is facing multiple charges after driving the wrong way and nearly crashing into Indiana State Troopers Wednesday morning.

According to police, troopers were traveling southbound on State Road 37 near the Lawrence and Orange County line when they saw a black SUV traveling northbound in their lane. Police say the SUV forced the troopers to brake and swerve their patrol car off of the roadway.

Officers say the SUV was speeding, but the troopers were able to catch up to the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop.

The officers say they immediately smelled alcohol when speaking with the driver, 25-year-old Heather Ann Osborn of Paoli. They also say there was a 3-year-old child in a child seat in the back of the SUV.

According to police, Osborn was transported to IU Health in Paoli for a toxicology test, and then taken to Lawrence County Jail.

Police say the child was turned over to Osborn’s mother at the scene.

Osborn was charged with operating vehicle while intoxicated causing endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger less than 18 years of age. She was released on bond Wednesday.
