INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 23, 2016)-- Indianapolis metropolitan police and the Indianapolis Fire Department were back on the scene Tuesday where detectives say a male body was found Monday evening.

Officers were initially called to the 6400 block of Olivia Lane, near Shadeland Avenue and East 34th Street, around 6 p.m. Monday. Someone who was fishing in the area saw something and called 911.

IMPD confirmed Monday night they were conducting a death investigation involving human remains. Tuesday afternoon, a detective on the scene said it was a body that was found.

Search teams returned to the small pond in the 6400 block of Olivia Drive Tuesday afternoon. IMPD Missing Persons and Homicide Detectives were on hand as search dogs made their way around the pond. The IFD Special Operations Team sent two boats into the water.  Divers and sonar were used to look below the surface of the pond.

During the search, investigators focused on two particular places around the pond. The Tuesday search ended around 3 p.m. with no additional evidence found.

The Marion County Coroner said Tuesday they were awaiting test results in an effort to identify the body.

Meantime, there are a number of missing persons cases and homicide cases where victims have not been located. Detectives are reviewing those cases for any possible connection to the body.
