Water restored to dozens of Zionsville homes after main breaks

UPDATE: The water service was restored around 4:45 p.m.


ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (Feb. 19, 2016) — A water main break closed all Zionsville Community Schools on Friday.

According to dispatchers in Boone County, the water main break is at 4824 Cobblestone Drive. Citizens Energy described it as a “massive” leak that will take some time to fix.

Citizens spokesman Dan Considine said water service was disrupted to about 75 homes. The break resulted in low water pressure at Zionsville High School and Pleasant View Elementary School, although crews restored water pressure to the schools. Citizens said they expect water to be restored in the homes around 5 p.m.

Zionsville Community Schools Superintendent Scott Robison said the district made the decision to close because they couldn’t guarantee water pressure for sprinklers in the case of an emergency.
