INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 18, 2016)-- Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles unveiled a surprise Thursday for Indy 500 fans.

For the 100th running of the Indy 500, a special ticket will be available. It's made of plastic instead of paper and features Juan Pablo Montoya.

The ticket is see-through and will be scanned at the gate so the ticket holder can keep it without giving away a stub.

More details will be released soon, but Boles said anyone wanting to get the special ticket should order by mid-March. He said he wasn't sure if there would be enough for every single ticket purchased. Those who don't get a plastic ticket will receive a classic paper one.

"We're really excited about it," Boles said at a party hosted at IMS as they celebrated 100 days until the 100th running. "We think it's something that people are going to look forward to keeping and it's certainly going to last for a long time."

The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 29.
