IMPD: Man grabbed woman’s purse, knocked her to the ground

UPDATE (February 8, 2016) – IMPD detectives arrested Hardy Stepp, 35, of Indianapolis, on two counts of robbery and one count of theft for his alleged involvement in several area purse grab robberies.  The suspect was taken into custody on yesterday evening at the McDonalds located at Lafayette Road and West 38th Street without incident.  The suspect is currently being held at the Arrestee Processing Center awaiting his next hearing date.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 1, 2016) – Indianapolis police are searching for a man accused of stealing a woman’s purse at the Marsh store in the 6900 block of West 38th Street.

On January 19 around 9 a.m., a man followed a woman into the store, and then he ripped the woman’s purse from her arm, dragging her to the floor.

Police describe the robber as a heavy set black male with a mustache and a beard.

Police say this is the same man who committed strong armed robberies at the Kroger store at 4202 South East Street and at Saigon Restaurant at 4760 West 38th Street.
