Arrest made in Columbus double shooting

COLUMBUS, Ind. (January 30, 2016) — Columbus police arrested Kyle K. Husbands, 28, of Columbus, in connection with Saturday’s double shooting in the 1200 block of Pearl Street. Husbands was apprehended Saturday evening in the 2400 block of Charleston Place by Columbus Police Officers with assistance from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Pearl Street. Columbus detectives identified the two men who were shot as Tyler L. Lucas, 24, of Columbus, and Cody J. Spencer, 19, of Franklin. Both men were transported to Methodist Hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.

Detectives believe that the double shooting was a result of an argument that occurred. Husbands was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of aggravated battery (level 3 felony) and battery with a firearm causing serious bodily injury with a previous conviction (level 3 felony).  The incident remains under investigation by the Columbus Police Department Detective’s Division.
