Disgraced West Lafayette pastor sentenced to prison in child exploitation, child pornography case
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Jan. 28, 2016) – A disgraced West Lafayette minister will serve four years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted child exploitation and possession of child pornography.
A Tippecanoe County judge sentenced Craig Burden, 29, to seven years in prison, but suspended three years of that sentence, opting for probation instead. Upon his release from prison, Burden will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Burden served as music minister at Calvary Baptist Church. In July 2015, his wife discovered images of child pornography on his computer. She also discovered video of a juvenile in her underwear in a bathroom. The video had been shot on a cell phone on July 3, 2015.
Once the allegations came to light, Calvary Baptist Church fired Burden, who’d been a pastor there since 2013. Burden pleaded guilty to the charges last month.
