BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind.—Deputies of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department were called to a farm to rescue a newborn calf.

Crews responded to the farm at 15000 E and 400 N around 11:34 a.m. and found friends and family members of the owners attempting to get a rope around the calf.

Deputies said the 3-day-old calf wandered about 25 feet away from the bank and was unable to get off the ice on its own. A deputy arrived with a 300-foot rope and crews were able to get the rope behind the calf, pulling it to the edge of the pond.

Luckily, the calf was rescued and brought into the house to warm up!
