Temporary lockdown for Avon schools lifted, no threat to area
UPDATE: The lockdown has been lifted, and there is no threat to the area.
AVON, Ind. (January 22, 2016) – All schools in the Avon Community School Corporation are on lockdown due to a business robbery in the area.
The incident happened shortly after 10:30 a.m., and parents are being notified.
The school released this statement on their website:
Shortly after 10:30 this morning the Avon Community School Corporation was notified by the Avon Police Department of an attempted robbery at the Shell Station at Avon Avenue (formerly 267) and Rockville Road. The suspect fled on foot. As a result, the Avon Community School Corporation has locked down its buildings (all exterior entrances) until such time as we are advised to do otherwise. There will be no outdoor recess.
