Travel headaches to greet drivers this spring on I-65 between Indiana and Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ind (January 19, 2016)–If your Spring Break travel plans include a trip to Louisville and points beyond, get ready to add some alternate routes and time onto your trip.
The Kennedy Bridge, located over the Ohio River between Indiana and Kentucky, is now closed until late this summer for repairs
Indiana and Kentucky DOT officials are suggesting several alternate routes which include taking I-265 to I-64 East. There they will be able to access the Sherman-Minton Bridge.
Another option is to stay on I-65 South and take the Watterson Expressway which will take you east. For those who know the area, using the downtown Louisville streets will provide another way around the closure in a limited manner.
One lane of the Kennedy is expected to re-open in late July/early August but the remaining travel lanes won’t be open until late this Summer.
