PITTSBORO, Ind. (Jan. 19, 2016) – Dozens of goats died after a fire broke out Tuesday morning at a barn in Pittsboro.

There’s no word on how the fire started around 7:15 a.m. at North 250 East and East 500 North, but the goats were inside the barn along with hay and farm equipment. The owner said 60 goats inside died.

Weather also caused problems for fire crews. One firefighter fell on the ice and suffered an injured back. Hydrants also froze, making it difficult for crews to access water. Firefighters had to rotate in and out due to dangerous wind chills.
