Tippecanoe County driving instructor dies in crash while teaching
STOCKWELL, Ind. (January 18, 2016) — Authorities say a driving instructor died from injuries he suffered when a pickup truck ran into a car with a student driver behind the wheel on a central Indiana highway.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department says the 16-year-old driver stopped abruptly while preparing to turn left on a four-lane section of U.S. 52 in a rural area about 10 miles southeast of Lafayette. The pickup truck then crashed into the back of the Indiana All Star Driving School car.
The sheriff’s department says Paul Foster, 69, suffered chest injuries in the Saturday afternoon crash and died early Sunday at a Lafayette hospital. The teen driver was treated at the hospital for injuries and released.
