Celebration of life service, ways to honor Andrew Smith’s legacy

WHITESTOWN, Ind. (January 17, 2016) – A celebration of life service for former Butler basketball player Andrew Smith will take place today at Traders Point Christian Church (6590 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 46075). The doors open at 4 p.m., and the service will begin at 5 p.m. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed here.

Flowers may be sent to Flanner & Buchanan in Zionsville, Indiana or in lieu of such, donations can be made in Smith’s honor to Be The Match, (donations can be made online here or can be made at the service).

The family will also have two tables set up at Traders Point to sign up to join the registry. The family says, “This is a cause so near and dear to our hearts and one swab of the cheek can save someone’s life.”

Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund

Thanks to the generosity of some of Smith’s biggest fans, Butler is establishing the Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund. The fund will provide scholarship support for future Butler Bulldogs on the men’s basketball team.

Contributions in Andrew’s honor may be made online here or by check to Butler University Advancement, 4600 Sunset Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46208. Please reference “Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund” in the check memo or online designation field.

Team Tributes

All Big East men’s basketball games through the rest of the season will feature a moment of silence in honor of Smith.
