IINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 10, 2016) - He made national news in 2011 when he was convicted of abusing his three grandsons during a Grand Canyon hike in the scorching Arizona heat.

Now less than five years later, 50-year-old Christopher Carlson is at the center of another criminal investigation… his own murder.

Carlson was found shot multiple times Friday night in the alley behind his north side Indianapolis home in the 4800 block of Primrose Avenue. Metro police detectives are investigating, but no information about what led up to the shooting has been released and no arrests have been made, making some neighbors nervous.

“It just freaked me out and the cops wouldn't tell me anything when I pulled up. I had to go all the way around the block to even get home that night,” said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.

Carlson was sentenced to 27 months in prison for child abuse. His murder marks the fourth homicide of the year for Indianapolis.
