BREWSTER, Kan. (Jan. 4, 2015) – A charter bus taking members of the Purdue Ski Club to Colorado made an unexpected stop in Kansas after catching fire on the interstate.

The group was headed to Keystone, Colo., for winter break. Troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol said 60 people were on the bus and got out safely after the bus caught fire Monday morning on Interstate 70 near mile marker 41. A different bus took them to a school in Brewster, Kan., so they could await alternate transportation. There were a total of four buses in the group, police said. Three of the buses continued on their way to their destination in Colorado. Two buses were being sent to pick up the stranded members of the club and transport them to Colorado.
