Colts’ opponents set for 2016 season
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 28, 2015) – Considering the oh-so-long odds facing the Indianapolis Colts in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive playoff berth, how about a brief diversion?
Instead of dwelling on the odds against them reaching the postseason being 3,300-to-1 according to ESPN’s Football Power Index, let’s look ahead to 2016.
Based on the NFL’s advanced schedule format, the Colts’ opponents for next season have solidified. Along with the normal home-and-home series with AFC South rivals Houston, Jacksonville and Tennessee, it has them facing the AFC West and NFC North as well as the second-place finisher in the AFC North and AFC East.
The non-division opponents visiting Lucas Oil Stadium: Kansas City, San Diego, Chicago, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
Non-division road trips: Denver, Oakland, Green Bay, Minnesota and the New York Jets.
The only certainty regarding the schedule is the Colts’ latest road test against the Jaguars will be an extended one. They’ll meet Oct. 2 in London.
As things currently stand, that lineup has the Colts facing six playoff teams: the Texans (twice), Chiefs, Broncos, Packers, Jets and Vikings.
