INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 24, 2015) — A rare summer-like storm from Wednesday afternoon has caused thousands of dollars in damage in areas of Greenwood and Noblesville and has also left hundreds still without power.

Weather officials are returning back to the area of Greenwood to survey damage done by a confirmed EF-1 tornado that swept through a mile and half area, and that lifted off part of the roof of the Academy Animal Hospital.

In Noblesville, people in the Twin Oaks subdivision were greeted similar weather that damaged 16 homes and displaced around 75 people.

Members from the National Weather Service will be back in that area Thursday to survey damage and to confirm whether or not a tornado actually hit the area.

Picking up tree limbs and restoring power will be on the agenda for a lot of central Indiana residents this Christmas Eve, including those in Henry County. Officials are reporting that there are still well over 500 residents without power early Christmas Eve after storms rolled through the region, which damaged about 10 homes and collapsed one barn.

Sunshine and cooler temperatures are in store for Hoosiers Christmas Eve and Day, but heavy rain is expected for the weekend with some areas expecting to receive as much as three inches.
