UPDATE (March 6, 2018) -- Kenneth Trisler pleaded guilty to unlawful entry by a serious sex offender and criminal trespass. He was sentenced to 365 days in the Morgan County Jail and given 142 days of credit for time served.
MOORESVILLE, Ind. (December 10, 2015) – A convicted sex offender is back in jail after sneaking into Mooresville High School on Tuesday.
The school says the incident happened after school was out on Tuesday, when two men entered the building through a door that had been left open for a sports team.
According to the school, a coach noticed the suspicious pair and contacted police.
Security camera footage captures the two men walking through the hallway. Police say the two suspects were inside for about two minutes before they left.
"We will have our school safety officers review this and see if there are any adjustments or changes that need to be made," says Mooresville Schools Communication Director Susan Haynes.
Officers located the two men outside of the school, on the opposite side from where they entered, and detained both. Police say one of them--Kenneth Trisler--was listed on the sex offender registry, and felony charges have been filed against him. Trisler was convicted of molesting a child under the age of 14 in 2009.
“This is a perfect example of our community working together,” said Mooresville Police Chief Danny Allen. “Our officers cannot be everywhere at once but we have eyes and ears all over the community to let us know what is happening and help us be more effective.”
