Man rescued after crashing to ravine on northeast side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 5, 2015) — A man was injured after his car crashed into a ravine on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The crash happened just before 4 a.m. in the 7100 block of Fairwood Drive.  When emergency crews arrived, they found a 2002 Toyota Sienna flipped upside down in a ravine off the side of the road. The driver was the only person in the vehicle. He was awake and alert but trapped inside the vehicle.

Extra emergency crews were called to the scene. Firefighters were able to use a rope rescue to pull the trapped man to safety.

The crash victim said he took the turn too fast and wiped out. He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital for further evaluation.
