Amazon releases ad touting its vision for drone delivery service called ‘Prime Air’

(Nov. 30, 2015) – Amazon unveiled a new video pushing a drone delivery system called “Prime Air.”

The ad, which features Jeremy Clarkson of “Top Gear” fame, showcases the design for Amazon’s drone fleet and how the system will work.

According to Amazon’s website, drones will be able to deliver packages weighing up to five pounds in under 30 minutes.

Amazon has been trying to get public approval for drone delivery, but the service isn’t launching any time soon. The program still hasn’t been approved and faces regulatory hurdles in the U.S. and other countries.

Amazon said this about the system:

Prime Air has great potential to enhance the services we already provide to millions of customers by providing rapid parcel delivery that will also increase the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation system. Putting Prime Air into service will take some time, but we will deploy when we have the regulatory support needed to realize our vision.
