Possible chimney fire forces family from home

BEECH GROVE,Ind. (November 28, 2015)–A Beech Grove family managed to escape their burning home Saturday.

Around 1:45 p.m. Beech Grove firefighters were called to the 1200 block of Stave Oak Court on a report of a residence fire.

The first fire units arrived to find heavy smoke coming from around the chimney of the two-story house.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but its believed to have started somewhere around the fireplace.

Flames spread up to near the roof line and attic area.  The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes.

Beech Grove firefighters were assisted by the Indianapolis Fire Department.
