Indiana Blood Center desperately in need of O negative blood

(November 24, 2015) – Due to a shortage of O negative blood, the Indiana Blood Center was unable to fill 25 hospital orders. Only two units of O negative whole blood remain in the inventory.

Heading into the long holiday weekend, many regular donors are out of town or unavailable to donate.

The blood center relies on the generosity of Hoosiers throughout central Indiana, and they’re encouraging those who can to come in to any Indiana Blood Center donor center and make a donation.

Tuesday and Wednesday, they’re giving a Wick’s pie to everyone who volunteers to donate blood. O negative donors are able to give to any patient but only seven percent of the population has this blood type.
