INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 23, 2015) -- As a new charge was filed in the case of a local attorney targeted in a bizarre plot, that attorney said her life is much different.
Rebecca Eimerman spoke exclusively to CBS4 this month, at the final hearing in the bitter divorce case that started it all.
That divorce case involves the boyfriend of Renee Perillo, who was charged along with her son Richie Perillo in an attempt to kidnap and murder Eimerman back in May.
Eimerman's husband found the pair in the back of her car with a gun and a syringe with a lethal dose of the drug succinylcholine in it.
"I have a lot of support from family and friends. Members of the (Indiana State Bar Association) have come out and offered assistance that has been welcomed. It's been difficult, though," Eimerman said.
On Monday, both Perillo's appeared in a federal courtroom for an initial hearing, after a grand jury indicted them on charges that could result in life in prison. Renee Perillo also faces a new charge of murder for hire.
"I think that the authorities are taking it seriously at this point. I think that everybody knows there’s a big problem and I’m hopeful that justice will be served," Eimerman said.
Perillo's boyfriend, a urologist who used to practice medicine in Columbus, Indiana, did not show up for the final hearing in the divorce case. He has not been charged in connection with the plot against Eimerman.
Renee and Richie Perillo are being held without bail. Their trial was tentatively scheduled for February 1st.
"We have to take new safety precautions. It’s a new way of life, but we’re getting through it," Eimerman said.
