INDIANAPOLIS (November 20, 2015) – Police officers spent the early hours of Friday morning searching for suspects after two high-speed police chases.

IMPD officers tried to initiate a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Holt Rd. around 1:30 a.m., but the vehicle refused to stop. Officers chased the suspect vehicle through the city to the near east side. The chase ended in the area of Nowland Ave. and Tecumseh St. where police say the passenger of the vehicle was arrested. The driver fled the scene and has not been located.

At one point, police say the chase left the road and went through a Kroger parking lot at East 16th St. and N Park Ave. Two IMPD officers and one Speedway officer crashed near the intersection of W ith St. and Indiana Ave. during the chase.

The second chase began around 2 a.m. downtown on Washington St. Officers say they attempted to stop a truck after receiving a report that someone inside may be armed. According to police, the truck fled on to I-65 southbound, onto I-465 westbound, then to I-70 westbound to the Plainfield exit. After that, the chase continued south through Mooresville, onto State Road 67 into the town of Centerton.

There were at least six agencies assisting in the three-county chase. IMPD says the Indiana State Police, Morgan Count Sheriff, Martinsville Police, Mooresville Police and Brooklyn Police were all involved.

State police officers confirmed that two passengers inside gave up after the truck stopped and were taken into custody. The driver fled on foot before being bit by a K9 officer. Police say the driver was treated for the bite and taken into custody as well.
