INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (Nov. 12, 2015)-- A well-known holiday light display in Hamilton County is now at the center of a Christmas controversy.

“I think that it is a shame; I think that they are taking away from the Christmas spirit,” says Carmel resident Dee Kutche.

The display, set to holiday music attracts people from across the state.

“It is very festive-- there are lights and great music,” says Kutche.

The light show called Christmas on Victory has become holiday tradition in Hamilton County.

“It was really cool! They synchronized the music to the lights and then you turn your radio on so you can hear the music,” says neighbor Jason Richmond.

Now, the elaborate display has been declared a nuisance by the Village Homeowners Association.

“I can’t imagine what the distraction would be. That is how we celebrate the season,” says Kutche.

The HOA says the display has made the neighborhood a virtual parking lot and created hazardous conditions for the 90 homes in The Village Farms subdivision.

“Our other neighbors have talked about it the area being very congested with traffic. They say there was often trash that was left behind and drivers would often park in people’s yards and even drive on their grass,” says Richmond.

The Housing Association says they took action after receiving several complaints, because they cannot let one neighbors display destroy the Christmas season for the others in the area.

“It is just something that is so fun for families. So the fast that they are not able to do it anymore is so disappointing,” says Carmel resident Angie Miller.

The homeowner says because of the controversy they will have a small, static display without music this year.
