INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 11, 2015) -- Amanda Blackburn’s family and her faith were her everything.

“She was just a role model for everyday life,” said Ashley Barrett, a Resonate Church member.

Blackburn and her husband Davey followed a calling a few years ago and came to Indianapolis to start Resonate Church on the north side.

“She was all about people coming to know Jesus, that’s who she was as a person. You could see it in her family life, in her personal life and in her church life,” said Derek Barrett, the church's worship pastor.

IMPD said Blackburn, 28, was shot in the head Tuesday morning during a home invasion in the 2800 block of Sunnyfield Court.  Davey was the one who found her. Their toddler son was home at the time of the attack; he was not injured.

The young couple had just told their growing congregation that they were expecting their second child.

“Our church is our family and it’s the same for the two of them. The church was their family,” said Barrett.

On Wednesday evening, detectives returned to the home to retrace their steps and make sure they didn’t miss any evidence.

“Investigators are also looking at potential burglaries in the area, not just specifically to this block but just in this vicinity, in this area just to see if anything matches up,” said Officer Rafael Diaz with IMPD.

According to the coroner, Blackburn’s death “is imminent.”  She is brain dead but still on a ventilator.

“I think she would want people to know that the story doesn’t end here that she would want us to do our very best and carry on the mission,” said Barrett.

The Resonate Church family is asking for prayers and support at Sunday’s service.  The public is invited to attend their service starting at 10:15 at 1801 East 86th Street.
