INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 12th, 2015) — As the temperatures drop, you’ll want to make sure your home is ready go. But a pricey repair bill can feel worse than the cold! Whether it’s sealing your windows, sweeping the chimney or fixing the furnace – we all want to get the best deal.

Experts say, if you don’t do a little research, you might end up paying twice the price for a repair in your home. Here’s an example:

CBS4 found one A-rated company on Angie’s List for furnace repairs. That company quoted the work at $918 dollars.

However, a different A-rated Angie’s List company gave this quote of $455 for the same job.

Experts at the Better Business Bureau say you should always take time to get free estimates from recommended companies.

“What we always tell people is – for any sort of major repair, or home improvement – get at least three estimates, get those in writing. If you get three estimates you’re going to know where the market is, how much things are going to costa and if people are being legitimate in their estimates,” said Tim Maniscalo , President of the Better Business Bureau of Central Indiana.
