Mizzou president, chancellor step down amid controversy regarding race relations
(November 9, 2015) — Tim Wolfe, president of the University of Missouri, announced in a Monday news conference that he was resigning from his post.
The resignation comes amid a controversy regarding race relations at the school.
During his resignation speech Monday morning, Wolfe said, “Use my resignation to heal and start talking again to make the changes necessary. And let’s focus on the changes we can make today and in the future, and not focus on what we can’t change in the past.
Wolfe also said, “I truly love everyone here at this great institution and my decision comes out of love, not out of hate.”
Shortly after Wolfe’s resignation, the deans of nine different MU colleges requested the dismissal of Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin. According to the Columbia Daily Tribune, Loftin announced his plan to resign at the end of the yea.r
