Indiana University officials say no danger to campus after reported gas leak

Indiana University officials said there was no gas leak near campus and no danger to campus. As a result, 13th Street has been reopened to traffic. The school sent an alert earlier after a ruptured gas line was reported.


BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Nov. 5, 2015) – Emergency officials at Indiana University sent an alert Thursday afternoon after a gas line reportedly ruptured near campus.

The alert said the problem involved a three-inch gas line near the 700-1000 block of East 13th Street and poses a danger to people in the area.

The Indiana University Police Department and Bloomington Fire Department were on scene and closing nearby roads. Officials are telling people to stay away from the area.

“Trust your instincts and take safe shelter,” the alert advised students and staff.
