INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct 28, 2015)-- Police say they are investigating after a person came home and found several of their dogs had been shot.

Officers and Indianapolis Animal Care and Control officials responded to the 2500 block of North Arlington Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Five Italian Mastiffs were found shot, one was killed. Of the four injured, two had to be put down. The other two are currently receiving treatment. A sixth dog on the property was unharmed.

According to ACC, it appeared that the dogs were well taken care of, and the kennels were very well kept. Police have taken the case over as it is now a criminal investigation.

The dogs were likely shot this morning, but not discovered until this afternoon.
