INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 28, 2015)-- Police said several people were shot at Washington Square Mall Wednesday evening.
Police reported three people were injured in the shooting, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. inside a common area in the mall just outside of Target. Thursday morning, police confirmed a fourth person was injured when she fell while running away from the scene.
According to an official on the scene, a man was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Another man and a woman were taken to Eskenazi Health with non life-threatening injuries. All three victims are now in stable condition, police said.
Police say the suspect, still at large, knew one of the victims. The suspect had an altercation with that victim before shots were fired. The other two victims may have been innocent bystanders.
All three of the victims were young adults.
Police said there were no signs of gang-related activity.
Washington Square Mall released the following statement:
We can confirm that a shooting occurred this evening at the Washington Square mall. The mall's security staff and Indianapolis Police Department responded quickly. The mall is cooperating fully with the police's investigation.

We take numerous proactive measures and coordinate very closely with local officials as a best practice.
