INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 28, 2015) – Meet the city’s cutest new residents! The Indianapolis Zoo released the first pictures of two tiny meerkat pups who were born to first-time mother Rue on October 13!

These are the first meerkats ever born at the Indianapolis Zoo.

Meerkats are highly social critters and live in groups, called mobs, which can include dozens of individuals from multiple families. All of the adults pitch in to care for the newborns. Therefore, the Zoo’s mob will remain in a private area behind the scenes until the pups are a little older.

Zoo visitors will be able to meet the pups for the first time later this fall.
