Homeward bound Hoosiers survive hurricane Patricia
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 24, 2015)–Several Central Indiana couples will be able to say they survived one of the worst hurricanes in history.
And now they say they are ready to get back home.
Adam and Michelle Taylor of Noblesville were vacationing in Nuevo Vallarta when Patricia, a category five hurricane, set it’s sites for their resort community.
Adam says the resort staff seemed very well prepared and when the time came, they were escorted to a shelter on the grounds of the Grand Luxxe.
As the hurricane approached it veered south making landfall some 150 miles away. Adam says they were very thankful for that.
Once the storm had passed, they were allowed to return to their rooms Friday night.
On Saturday the couple was able to go into town where they said they saw some clean-up underway. The only damage they saw though, was a few palm trees that had lost their leaves.
Both Adam and Michelle recalled seeing a lot of muddy water being carried from rain-swollen inland rivers out to the ocean.
Adam described Saturday’s weather as muggy with overcast skies.
The Taylors are due to return to Central Indiana Sunday night.
