Metro officer hospitalized following crash on near north side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 15, 2015) – A metro police officer was hospitalized following a crash on the near north side of Indianapolis Thursday night.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and North College Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

According to police, the officer was on a run without lights or sirens and driving eastbound on Fairfield Avenue.

A male driver of other vehicle was driving westbound when he turned left into the officer’s path.

They collided at the intersection.

The male ran from the scene. A female passenger claims to have been driving the car at the time of the accident.

The female complained of a minor ankle injury, but she was not transported.

The officer was transported to Methodist Hospital with a hand and arm injury, but it is not believed to be serious.
