Indianapolis firefighter loses battle with cancer, leaves behind wife and four kids
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 15, 2015) – An Indianapolis firefighter lost his battle with cancer Thursday.
According to PIO Rita Reith, Joel Johnston, 45, passed away early Thursday morning.
“Johnston valiantly battled cancer since his diagnosis in February and both he and his family were very appreciative of the support all of you showed,” said Reith.
Johnston served 16 years on the IFD, and his current assignment was Ladder 29 A Shift.
He leaves behind his wife Loran, 17-year-old son Dylan, 16-year-old daughter Abigail, 13-year-old son Gavin, and 12-year-old daughter Amelia.
