FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ind. (October 14, 2015) – A teen trying to become an Eagle Scout had his project vandalized this week.

Brandon Sweetman built a ramp and deck at an elementary school in Franklin Township.

The school was set to reopen for the upcoming school year.

Sweetman planned and built the deck for months, but over the weekend it was vandalized by someone who broke a lot of the wood.

Sweetman says the school could use the deck for science classes.

“To have kids come out here and learn about science, the environment, and trees, there are tons of trees around here. There’s usually a little pond where fish and turtles live, so it would be good for little science classes,” said Sweetman.

The repairs to the deck will cost an estimated $300.
