INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 14, 2015) – A police chase on the city’s near south side ended with an SUV in the White River and one person under arrest.
Police say the chase started on the near east side by Keystone and Hoyt Avenue when an officer tried to stop the driver for a traffic violation. The driver took off, traveling towards Raymond and West Street.
Police say the driver lost control of the car while going through someone's yard and crashed into the White River. The SUV went under water, but police say the man broke through a window and escaped. Police identified him later Wednesday as Roger Brady.
Police arrested Brady when he got out of the water. They say he was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. He told police no one else was in the car. The dive team did their own investigation throughout the morning, confirming no one else was in the car and no one else was hurt.
Officers say “drug paraphernalia” was found inside the SUV.
