INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Pretty much everywhere you look in Fountain Square there is a new business popping up.
“All of the things happening in Fountain Square are very, very positive,” says Craig Von Deylen of Deylen Realty.
Now, there is nearly an entire block for sale just southeast of the busy downtown on Prospect Street. The land is available for $1.5 million.
“There is a lot of people coming over here and no more space,” says Taki Sawi the owner of Santorini Greek Kitchen and also owner of the land.
More than an acre of land is currently occupied by a Mexican restaurant grocery store combo and two homes. Prospect Street, though, doesn’t have as much development as the center of Fountain Square. Residents say it seems to drop off after Virginia and Shelby.
Developers see this as an opportunity, adding new apartments and other commercial businesses.
“It would be great to have someone else come into the community and do another great project,” says Von Deylen.
Developers say the music scene and the fun eclectic atmosphere are drawing businesses and residents from throughout the country.
“It is walkable and bikeable to downtown Indianapolis and it has a cool vibe. It is also is affordable for local businesses to come in and open and local restaurants to open,” says Von Deylen.
