IACC accepting dogs once again after distemper case halted intake
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 14, 2015) – After a 21-day isolation period, Indianapolis Animal Care & Control is accepting canines once again.
The temporary halt occurred after a dog at the shelter tested positive for distemper, a highly-contagious virus.
During the isolation period, shelter staff and outside contractors deep-cleaned the dog kennels.
The IACC will only take dogs from Marion County due to space constraints.
IACC’s Animal Intake is open from 12 noon – 6 p.m., Mon. through Sat. and operates on a first-come-first-serve basis. All cats and dogs are vaccinated upon intake and medically assessed for health or behavior concerns.
