DENVER, CO (October 11, 2015) – Avelynn is just three-years-old, but she’s already captured the hearts of an entire high school football team.
According to KDVR, Avi has already undergone several open heart surgeries, and she was not expected to live past six weeks.
When the Manual High School football team first heard about Avi this past summer, they turned her backyard from a pile of dirt to grass she immediately fell in love with.
“When we saw that little girl walk out onto her new lawn it touched my heart so much. I wanted to cry,” running back Losseny Kone told KDVR.
Avi made such an impact on the team, they wanted to do more for the special little girl.
“There is something special about high school and a high school football game on a Friday night and meeting little Avi we wanted to make sure we could share that experience with her,” said defensive coordinator Benjamin Butler.
So they invited her to their homecoming game, and they even crowned her homecoming queen!
“To see this girl walk out and be crowned queen. Something she won’t probably experience ever so it really means a lot to us,” said Kone.
