INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 27, 2015) - Seven shootings that killed 3 people and injured 4 others over the weekend, has one woman asking police for help in her neighborhood where one of the shootings took place.

“Three of the murders that have happened in this month have happened right in front of either my house, my best friend’s house or my daughter’s best friend’s house,” said Diana Gibbons, who lives along Crestview Avenue where a 27 year old man was found shot in the head behind the wheel of an suv overnight Saturday.

The neighborhood which is less than a mile north of the state fairgrounds off 46th Street has a crime watch program and will likely increase patrols after this latest incident.

Gibbons hope police will also increase their patrols in the area.

She says good people live along Crestview, but the neighborhood attracts a bad element because the street is poorly lit.

“It’s very dimly lit, but there a tree right in front of it so it illuminates about a 6 foot radius, that’s it,” said Gibbons.

She says her neighbor’s house was broken into twice within a year, a man was selling drugs at an abandon home across the street and just one street over, behind her house, a home invasion took place last year.

Saturday’s shooting has her on the edge.

Neighbors believe the suspects took advantage of the dark street,

“They knew they came here for that. They said that the vehicle stopped turned the engine off turned the lights off, then they heard a pop.”

Neighbors believe the victim lives near the scene.

As far as we know, there have been no arrests in any of the shootings that took place Friday night and Saturday morning.

If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
