Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies were called to 17940 E. 500 N. just east of Hope around 7:15 p.m.

Investigators said two bicyclists were riding west toward Hope when an SUV struck one of them from behind. Mia R. Dora, 20, Hartsville, died instantly. The other bicyclist, a 22-year-old Columbus man, was not hurt.

Police said a 17-year-old was behind the wheel of the SUV. They believe he didn’t see the riders because of the sun.
