BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Sept. 15, 2015)– Police are searching for two suspects after a donation jar was stolen.

Early Saturday morning, police say two women entered the Circle K at North College Avenue and West 17th Street in Bloomington and apparently left the store soon after.  Video surveillance shows that they both re-entered the store and one of the females distracted the clerk as the other took the Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health donation jar. Both fled the scene.

It’s unclear how much money was in the jar at the time.

“One would hope that those who took the jar can demonstrate a greater need than those at Riley Hospital, but I’m sure that’s going to be a tough sell in the court of public opinion,” said Bloomington Police Department Captain Joe Qualters.

If you’d like to donate to the hospital, you can do so here. Anyone with suspect information is asked to call the Bloomington Police Department at (812) 339-4477.
