Colts waive running back Vick Ballard, elevate Josh McNary
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 15, 2015) – The Colts waived injury-riddled running back Vick Ballard Tuesday afternoon.
The move was initially reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Ballard missed all but one game in 2013 and 2014 with different injuries, but made the 53-man roster this season in spite of a strained hamstring. As a rookie in 2012, Ballard led the Colts with 814 yards on 211 carries.
In a corresponding move, the team elevated reserve linebacker Josh McNary to the 53-man roster.
McNary spent the last two season with the Colts, playing in 20 games (four starts) and registering 54 tackles. Earlier this month, the 27-year-old was found not guilty of rape and other charges in connection with events that happened in early December 2014.
