INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 14, 2015)- The 2016 One American 500 Festival Mini Marathon isn’t until next May, but runners can now register for the race.
On Monday, September 14 the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders will run the 13.1 mile mini marathon course.
The team was selected as the pacesetter for the 2016 race.
If the team finishes the course in less than 2.5 hours the 500 Festival will donate $5,000 to the National Stroke Association, in the team’s honor.
The Colts will donate $1 to the National Stroke Association, up to $6,000, for every race participant in May who breaks the pace time.
Last December former Colts cheerleader, Tessa David, suffered a stroke at the age of 28.
She continues to recover and her former teammates say they’re running to show support for her and to raise awareness about the warning signs of a stroke.
If runners sign-up for the race by October 15, the registration fee is $65. Pricing after that is as follows:
- October 16, 2015 - February 15, 2016: $75
- February 16, 2016 - May 3, 2016: $85
- May 4 – 6, 2016: $95
Next year’s One America 500 Festival Mini Marathon is set for May 7, 2016.
