INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 10, 2015)– Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said Thursday the trial of Mark Leonard cost their office $62,805.

The amount includes travel costs, lodging, expert witness fees and demonstrative exhibits. Staff salary and any costs to the court systems or police agencies are not included.

Citizens Energy Group and the U.S. Bureau of  Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) provided expert testimony and assistance at no cost.

A judge sentenced Leonard to two consecutive life terms in prison, plus an additional 75 years during a hearing on Aug. 14. Leonard was convicted in July on 53 counts, including murder, in connection with the November 2012 blast that killed two neighbors and damaged or destroyed dozens of homes in the Richmond Hill subdivision on the south side of Indianapolis.

Prosecutors said Leonard plotted to blow up the house of his girlfriend, Monserrate Shirley, in a scheme to collect insurance money.
