Man killed in shooting on near north side, police continue search for suspect

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 9, 2015)– Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating after a fatal shooting late Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Fairfield Avenue around 11:15 p.m. on a report of a person shot.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a man in an intersection with multiple gunshot wounds. EMS officials pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

The victim was later identified as Donte Hill, of Indianapolis.

Witnesses say a vehicle sped away from the scene after the shooting was reported.

At this point, detectives say they don’t believe this was a random act. Officers urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).

Another fatal shooting occurred on the north side around 9:30 p.m.
